Before we get started with this week’s card sketch, I wanted to let you know why you may not be seeing my usual live videos for a little while.

Last Thursday, I was involved in an accident that landed me in the hospital. You know the song Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer? Well, this grandma got run over by a scooter!

The scooter hit me hard enough to lift me up into the air and throw me back onto the pavement. I hit my head, injured my neck and back, and fractured my left wrist. Needless to say, crafting has become a bit more challenging than usual.

I have an appointment with a surgeon on Wednesday to determine the extent of the damage to my wrist and what the next steps will be. At that appointment, they’ll decide whether I need a cast, surgery, or another treatment plan.

Until I know more and start feeling a little better, I won’t be doing my regular live videos. I may try to record a few videos if I can manage one-handed crafting, but for now I’m taking things one day at a time.

The good news is that all of my Weekly Card Sketches have already been designed and prepared, so you’ll still find a brand-new sketch here every Wednesday. I appreciate your patience, your kind thoughts, and your continued support during this unexpected detour.

Welcome back to another week of Easy Card Sketches from The Stamp Camp! If you’re looking for card layout ideas, card sketch inspiration, and creative ways to use your favorite Designer Series Papers, today’s sketch is a perfect example of how versatile a simple layout can be.

One of the things I love most about card sketches is that they take the guesswork out of designing your card. Once you have a layout you love, you can recreate it over and over again using different papers, colors, and themes to create cards for any occasion.

For this week’s Card Sketch #61, I used two completely different Designer Series Papers: the beautiful Scenic Coast 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and the spooky Frightfully Fun 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper. While the occasions couldn’t be more different, both cards use the exact same sketch!

Card #1: Scenic Coast 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper

For the first card, I featured one of the gorgeous scenic prints from the Scenic Coast 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. You’ll notice that I used another coordinating print from the pack as the background layer on the card front. The scenic image was then cut into three sections, matted, and arranged across the front of the card following this week’s sketch layout.

The segmented design draws your eye across the beautiful sunset scene and gives the card a unique window-pane effect. To complete the card, I added a sentiment from the coordinating Sunset Coast Stamp Set and finished it off with a few Sunset Sequins for just the right amount of sparkle.

This layout works especially well with scenic papers because it allows you to showcase the artwork while still adding dimension and interest to your card design.

Everything else in the post can remain the same—just swap Relaxing Waterside Stamp Set for Scenic Coast Stamp Set.

Card #2: Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper

For my second card, I switched gears completely and created a Halloween card using the Frightfully Fun Designer Series Paper.

Just like the first card, I began with a background layer on the card front. This time, I added a coordinating patterned layer before adhering the scenic moonlit tree print. The spooky scene was cut into three sections, matted, and arranged across the card front using the exact same sketch.

The sentiment comes from the coordinating Oh My Fright Stamp Set, and I couldn’t resist adding three of those adorable ghosts from the Bats, Ghosts & Dots Embellishments. They add the perfect finishing touch and bring a little fun to this spooky Halloween design.

Same Sketch, Endless Possibilities

What I hope today’s cards demonstrate is how powerful a good card sketch can be. Whether you’re creating cards with the Scenic Coast 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, the Frightfully Fun 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper, or papers already in your stash, the same layout can be transformed simply by changing the paper and sentiment.
