Card #1 – Winged Gatefold Card

Featuring: Gathering Together Specialty Designer Series Paper

The first card in this one sheet wonder card tutorial series is the elegant Winged Gatefold Card — and let me tell you, it’s a stunner! This card design uses a large portion of your 12″ x 12″ designer series paper, making it a perfect choice if you’re trying to minimize scraps. It’s a win-win: no waste and a beautiful card!

What I especially love about this layout is that it highlights both sides of the designer series paper. If you’re anything like me and have trouble deciding which side of the DSP to use (because they’re all just so gorgeous!), this design solves that problem. You don’t have to choose — you get to showcase them both!

For my sample, I used the Gathering Together Specialty Designer Series Paper, which has a beautiful leaf pattern on one side and a soft, subtle background on the other. Funny enough, I couldn’t decide which side I liked better for the card front — so during the live class, I made mine the opposite way from my original sample.

Now I’m curious — which version do you prefer?

In the photo above, you can see how the Winged Gatefold Card opens to beautifully reveal both sides of the Gathering Together Specialty Designer Series Paper. The center panel inside the card provides the perfect space to stamp a sentiment or handwrite a heartfelt message — something I always love including in my handmade cards.

To add a little extra charm, I dressed up the inside with a cute acorn embellishment and a coordinating strip of the same designer paper. The acorn and leaves you’ll see throughout this one sheet wonder card tutorial come from the coordinating Gathering Moments Bundle, which pairs so perfectly with this paper pack.

For finishing touches, I accented each card with the Cajun Craze & Gold Dots and tied a double bow using the Early Espresso Linen Thread. These little details really pull the design together and add that warm, rustic autumn feel I was going for.

Card #2 – Interlocking Double Panel Card

Featuring: Gathering Together Specialty Designer Series Paper

Card #2 in this one sheet wonder card tutorial series is the Interlocking Double Panel Card — and while it might look a little tricky at first glance, it’s actually super easy to put together!

This design is a fun twist on a traditional gatefold card. Instead of two standard flaps, the front panels interlock to close the card, creating a unique and interactive design that’s sure to wow the recipient.

For the focal image on these cards, I brought in the Stylish Shapes Dies, which add just the right touch of dimension and layering. I used the larger circle die to cut a base from the Earthen Metallic Paper, and then layered it with the smaller circle die cut from Basic White cardstock.

This simple but elegant combination creates the perfect canvas for the acorn and leaf images from the Gathering Moments Bundle, helping them really stand out while tying in the rich, earthy tones of the designer series paper. It’s a subtle detail, but it adds so much polish to the finished design!

Card #3 – Layered Strips with Embossed Background

Featuring: Gathering Together Specialty Designer Series Paper

For the third card in this one sheet wonder card tutorial, I used some of the leftover strips from the designer series paper. I love when I can use every bit of a 12″ x 12″ sheet — no waste, just creativity!

I adhered the strips onto a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock, which I had embossed using the Layering Leaves 3D Embossing Folder. The texture this adds is just beautiful and ties in perfectly with the autumn theme of the paper. The embossing folder is part of the Gathering Together Suite Collection, so everything coordinates effortlessly.

This is a great example of how even the smallest pieces of DSP can be used to create something striking. It’s also a fun way to experiment with layout and pattern mixing while staying within one cohesive look.

Card #4 – Faux Full-Front Fun Fold

Featuring: Gathering Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper

Card #4 is another fun fold card, created using the remaining pieces of the Gathering Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper. At first glance, it looks like a traditional full-front card, but there’s a clever twist — the front panel is actually cut back, allowing you to see part of the designer paper from both the outside and inside of the card.

This simple cut adds visual interest and makes great use of the final scraps from the 12″ x 12″ sheet. I finished it off with more die-cut circles using the Stylish Shapes Dies, and layered on leaves and acorns from the Gathering Moments Bundle.

As with the other cards, I added a double bow with Early Espresso Linen Thread and a few Cajun Craze & Gold Dots for that perfect touch of sparkle and texture.
