Can you believe it? We are already at Card Sketch #55 and the very last sketch for May! This month has flown by, and I have loved sharing all of these creative ideas with you. Today’s card sketch template for beginners is perfect because it is simple, versatile, and a fantastic way to use up smaller pieces of designer series paper.

If you are looking for simple card sketches for beginners, this layout is the perfect place to start. All you need is a collection of 1″ squares, your favorite coordinating papers, and a sentiment to tie everything together. It really is one of those easy card designs that looks impressive without requiring complicated techniques.

For today’s sample card I used the Nature Walk Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment placed across the middle divides the card into two sections and creates a clean focal point that brings the entire layout together.

The card design features:

• Two rows of three 1″ squares across the top
• Two rows of three 1″ squares across the bottom
• A sentiment strip separating the two sections

This layout is wonderful because you can completely change the look of the card simply by changing the paper patterns, cardstock colors, or sentiment style. It is also a great way to mix and match coordinating prints without overwhelming your card front.

One of the reasons I love creating simple card sketches for beginners is because they take the guesswork out of card making. Instead of wondering where to place your layers or embellishments, you can simply follow the sketch and enjoy the creative process.
