Welcome to Week #60 in my Card Sketch Series! This week’s sketch is one of those printable card sketches for crafting that you are definitely going to want to keep in your collection. It is a versatile layout that works beautifully with all kinds of Designer Series Paper and can easily be adapted for any occasion.

What I love most about this sketch is how well it showcases patterned and scenic papers. The way the pieces are cut and arranged allows the design to continue flowing across the card front, creating a beautiful focal point that resembles a picture you would proudly hang on your wall. If you have ever struggled with cutting into your favorite scenic papers because they are just too pretty, this sketch is the perfect solution.

This month I am featuring both the Spooktacular Designer Series Paper, Frightfully Fun Suite and the Scenic Coast Suite on my card sketches. These two suites could not be more different from one another. One is filled with playful seasonal images while the other features beautiful coastal-inspired designs. Yet today’s sketch proves that a great layout can work with virtually any theme, occasion, or paper collection.

Scenic Coast Card

Let’s start with the Scenic Coast card. I absolutely love this layout paired with the bright, vibrant prints from the Scenic Coast Designer Series Paper. This card is exactly what I was talking about earlier when I said this sketch creates a design that could easily be framed and hung on a wall.

The ocean scenes, combined with the beautiful colors in the sky and water, make this card a real standout. These types of prints are right up my alley. I love bright colors, and there is something so calming and peaceful about the coastal scenes in this paper collection. Every time I look at them, I can almost hear the waves and feel the ocean breeze.

What makes this sketch work so well with scenic papers is the way the Designer Series Paper is cut and arranged. The panels cascade down from the center of the card, allowing the image to continue flowing across the front. Instead of breaking up the scene, the layout enhances it and draws your eye across the entire design.

Because the paper is such a focal point, very little embellishment is needed. The beautiful scenery does all the work for you, making this a quick and easy card to create while still delivering a big visual impact. It’s the perfect example of how a simple card sketch can transform a gorgeous piece of Designer Series Paper into a stunning handmade card.

Spooktacular Halloween Card

Next up is Frankie, or Frankenstein, featured from the Spooktacular Designer Series Paper pack. For the greeting, I used a sentiment from the Oh My Fright Stamp Set, which is part of the Frightfully Fun Suite.

Isn’t this the perfect Halloween card? The best part is that you could easily recreate this design using any of the spooky characters found in the Spooktacular Designer Series Paper. Whether you choose Frankie, a skeleton, Dracula, or pumpkin, this sketch does a wonderful job of highlighting the focal image.

What I love most about these characters is that they are cute rather than scary. That makes them perfect for creating Halloween cards for the grandkids or the little ones in your life. The playful images bring all the fun of Halloween without being too spooky, making them suitable for all ages.

Just like the Scenic Coast card, this layout allows the Designer Series Paper to be the star of the show. The cascading paper panels add interest and movement while drawing your eye right to the featured character and sentiment.
