Next week I have a couple of workshops scheduled and one of the hostesses wanted Halloween themed items.? Her and her guests will be making a 6X6 scrapbook page, a treat holder and an invitation.? She requested the invitation be a postcard.? I set to work trying to come up with a postcard that would be ?New Stamper? and ?Seasoned Stamper? friendly.? Well here are my 2 samples I came up with:

This sample uses the Glossy card stock and embossing.? The card stock is cut 4 ?? X 5 ?? just like a full size card.? I wanted to use a thicker card stock than Whisper White as it is a postcard.?? Plus seeing how it is a postcard you can?t have any added card stock or layering.? I first wheeled the bottom of the card stock using the Haunting Jumbo Wheel?#112480 $8.50 and Black Craft ink and then embossed, next the house from the House of Haunts stamp set?#111574 $22.95 wood mount was stamped in the Black Craft ink and embossed.? I then punched out a 1 3/8″ circle out of a sticky note and placed that over the moon image.? I then brayered the Concord Crush ink over the top covering the stamped image across the bottom of the card with card stock.? After brayering on the Concord Crush I then removed the sticky note circle to reveal a white moon.? I really like how this turned out but I think it is a little difficult for the New Stamper.? The techniques aren?t difficult but getting a clean stamped and embossed image on the glossy card stock might be a little frustrating for a new stamper.

So on to the next sample:

This sample using the Shimmer White card stock which is a thicker card stock too.? On this sample I first cut out a circle using the Circle Scissors.? I positioned the cut out onto the postcard size card stock and sponged the center with Daffodil Delight ink.? I then took the cut out section off and placed the circle over the sponged circle.? I then used Peach Parfait and sponged around the top half of the circle, then I sponged Cajun Craze around the bottom half of the circle and the very bottom with Cherry Cobbler.? I saw this demonstrated on the Stamping 411 blog spot.? I then removed the circle and stamped the haunted house in black Stazon over the Daffodil Delight circle and Happy Halloween at the bottom.? Unfortunately I think this technique is a little over the top for a workshop.? I would definitely do this in a techie class or a class setting, but think it is a little difficult at a workshop when you have so many different levels of stampers.

On the backside of both samples I stamped the You’re Invited and the party information from the?Inviting stamp set #120630 Clear Mount $16.95.

I will give my hostess these 2 samples if she decides she wants to do the postcard invitations but for the workshop we are doing more of a card type invitation.? I will show you what we did after the workshop is over; I don?t want to ruin the surprise.
