Today is Free Card Sketches to Download and print; it’s week #47. Today’s sketch is like last week as it uses a variety of paper strips to create a beautiful card front using just designer series paper. You will also see that like last week, I added the measurements of the paper pieces to the sketch.

The designer series paper packs I chose for today’s samples are from the Nature Walk Designer Series Paper & Sticker Sheet and the Lovely & Beautiful Specialty Designer Series Paper pack. Each of today’s cards uses the same size paper pieces but each looks a bit different just by changing up the paper prints, sentiment and embellishments.

This week’s sketch is perfect for using up those smaller pieces of designer series paper that we all tend to save. By layering strips across the card front, you can mix patterns and colors while still keeping a clean and balanced design. It’s a simple layout that gives you endless possibilities depending on the paper combinations you choose.

To create your card, start with your card base and adhere your designer series paper strips across the front according to the sketch. Keep your strips evenly spaced for a more structured look.  Once your strips are in place, add a sentiment of your choice. This can be stamped and die cut or layered with a coordinating shape to help it stand out against the patterned background.

Be sure to download and print today’s card sketch and add it to a 3-ring binder. Having a collection of sketches on hand is one of the easiest ways to jumpstart your creativity whenever you sit down to craft.

Card #1 uses the Nature Walk Designer Series Paper & Sticker Sheet. There is no stamping on this card, I just used one of the stickers from the sheet. I then added a few of the faux bronze pentagons to accent the card.

The card base is Early Espresso 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″. The paper strips are adhered in the pattern using the measurements shown on the download sheet.

For Card #2 I used the Lovely & Beautiful Specialty Designer Series Paper and the sentiment was from the Fabulous Sayings stamp set that is no longer available. I stamped it in Calypso Coral ink and die cut it out using the Stylish Shapes dies.

The card base is Thick Basic White 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″. I added a strip of Calypso Coral cardstock under the sentiment and accented the card front with the Pearlized Faceted Circles.
