Let’s get moving and create some movement-themed cards with supplies you probably already have on hand.

Last night was my Team Meeting which I hold the first Tuesday of every month with my upline France Martin.  Each month France and I take turns doing the news and the demonstration and last night was my turn to do the demonstration. We are taking turns teaching the techniques found in the new annual catalog beginning on pages 118 – 127. Last night was my turn to teach the techniques found on pages 120 – 121 Get Moving Creating Cards with Movement.  Now cards with movement can be different fun fold cards, spinner cards or cards that are cut and shaped a bit differently, they may open a bit differently than the regular store-bought cards.  Movement to cards adds a bit of a wow factor, or a new design element, or even some excitement and joy to the recipient.

Let’s take a look at the different cards with movement that I demonstrated at the meeting:

First up on page 121 of the annual catalog is the Fun Fold cards.  These can be created with a variety of folds that unfold to show the pretty designer series papers or even unfold a scene.  There are many different fun folds that you can do, and I’ve done a lot of them during my One Sheet Wonder classes.

These cards were created using the Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper and the coordinating Adventurous Sky Bundle.  (NOTE:  The Special from June 5 – 30th is get an additional 10% off ALL Stamp and Die Set Bundles or Cut & Emboss Machine or Mini Machine.)  To stay consist, I used all these products for all my different movement-themed cards during the meeting.

The inside of the card shows more of that pretty Take to the Sky paper and has a spot for writing or stamping your inside message.   To achieve this fun fold, you will cut your designer series paper 5 1/4″ X 11 3/4″ and score at 1 3/4″, 4 3/4″ and at 7 3/4″.  You will fold all your score lines, so it is 3 sections on the front of your card.  You will then secure the front flap down to the second fold, so when. your card is fully opened you will see the front and the inside section.

The second set of cards are not your ordinary cards even though they appear to be a regular type of card.  These cards open in two different directions and can be created either horizontally or vertically.  These cards started out with a card base cut 4 1/4″ X 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″.  I then cut from the score line to the outside edge giving the front of the card a diagonal cut and then added a smaller card that was 3″ X 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″.  These types of cards with movement are easy to create but look technical.

I also added the same designer series paper to the inside of the mini card just like on the front side.  With the sentiment flying by to say Hi; this card can be used for many different occasions.

When you think of movement-themed cards your first thought was probably a spinner card.   These are naturally considered a movement card as the image spins across the card fronts.  These cards are great for kids or even adults who love to watch things move along the card fronts.  In the catalog it shows using a hardware washer, but I used two regular ole pennies.  These might be a bit heavier than the washers, but it still works great.  I used the Curved Label Punch for my track for my planes to spin on, but it is not necessary to use this punch to create spinner cards.  You can also use the Stylish Shapes circle dies and create a continuous spinner as shown below:

For this card I used the largest Stylish Shapes circle die and the 3rd from the largest circle die together to create my track for my airplane to spin around.  You will need to pop up both the outside designer series paper and the inside circle using your dimensionals or the Foam Adhesive Strips.  If you use the dimensionals you will want to use 2 layers of dimensionals so the image you use can freely spin.  The Foam Strips are a bit thicker than one dimensional so you should be good with just the strip without going higher.

Those were the movement cards shown during the meeting and then teammates have until June 19th to show us their take on any of the movement cards and be entered into a drawing to win some prizes.
