It’s Week #51 in my card sketch series, and if you’re looking for easy card sketches with simple layouts, you are going to love this week’s design. This sketch is all about keeping things quick, practical, and beautiful—perfect for when you want to create something special without overthinking it.

One of the best parts about this layout is how it helps you use up those little pieces of Designer Series Paper we all have tucked away. You know the ones—those leftover strips that feel too pretty to toss but too small to use on their own. This sketch is perfect for that!

If you have a long strip of paper and aren’t quite sure what to do with it, simply cut it into smaller sections, mat each piece onto coordinating cardstock, and just like that—you’re halfway to a finished card. It’s an easy card sketch that does the design work for you.

This layout is not only great for using up scraps, but it’s also incredibly versatile. Change your paper and sentiment, and you can create cards for birthdays, thank yous, thinking of you, or just because. Whether you keep it clean and simple or add a few embellishments like die cuts, ribbon, or gems, the end result is always polished and eye-catching.

If you’re short on time but still want to be creative, this is one of those quick and easy card sketch ideas you’ll come back to again and again. It’s beginner-friendly, stash-busting, and a great way to build your confidence in cardmaking.

For both samples today, I used the Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper. This was the featured paper in this month’s Stamp Camp at Home Card Club kit, so I had plenty of smaller pieces left over that needed to be used up—making it perfect for these easy card sketches.

Both cards use the exact same measurements and embellishments, with the only difference being the color combinations. This is one of my favorite ways to stretch a layout and get multiple looks from one of my go-to easy card sketch templates.

The card base for the first card is Thick Basic White, cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″. The Designer Series Paper layer measures 4″ x 5 1/4″. Next, I added a layer of Cloud Cover cardstock cut to 2 1/2″ x 4 3/4″, followed by a Basic White layer measuring 2 1/4″ x 4 1/2″.

On top of that, I adhered four strips of the Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper, each measuring 1″ x 2″. This is where those leftover strips really shine and why this layout is such a great option when you’re looking for quick and easy card sketch ideas.

For the focal point, I punched a circle from Cloud Cover cardstock and another from Basic White using the 2 3/8″ Circle Punch and the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch. If you don’t have these punches, you can easily substitute with the Stylish Shapes Dies.

The flower image is stamped onto Cloud Cover cardstock using Secret Sea ink and then die cut with the coordinating dies from the Lovely Arrangements bundle. The sentiment is also from the same bundle, keeping everything nicely coordinated.

To finish the card, I added a few Moody Palette Glossy Dots for just the right touch of shine and dimension.

For card #2, the measurements are exactly the same—the only differences are the Designer Series Paper prints and the coordinating cardstock colors. This is a great example of how one of these easy card sketches can give you multiple looks with just a few simple changes.

The card base for this one is Secret Sea, layered with a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of the Lovely Blossoms Designer Series Paper. This time, I switched the matting layers by using Basic White for the 2 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ piece, followed by Secret Sea cut to 2 1/4″ x 4 1/2″.

The Designer Series Paper strips remain the same size at 1″ x 2″, keeping this layout consistent and making it one of those reliable easy card sketch templates you can use over and over again.

For the focal point, I changed up the circle layers by using Petal Pink and Secret Sea, which gives the card a softer, yet still rich contrast. The flower is stamped on Basic White using Secret Sea ink, with coordinating Secret Sea leaves to tie everything together.

To finish it off, I added Secret Sea glossy dots for a cohesive look and just the right amount of shine.

This second card really shows how versatile these quick and easy card sketch ideas can be—just by switching colors and patterns, you can create a whole new design while using the exact same layout.
