With the Take to the Sky Designers Series Paper, I’ll show you how to create 2 different fun fold cards from just one sheet. These are great for Father’s Day or Birthday’s.

If you tuned in to my One Sheet Wonder class last night, then you saw how quick and easy these cards came together.  They make great cards for any occasion that you might have coming up.  With Father’s Day just around the corner I thought I would make mine Father’s Day cards.  I can even see these being great graduation cards with a sentiment about soaring or taking to the sky phrases.

Each of these gatefold cards are a bit different in how they come together, but the scoring measurements are the same for both cards.  The best part is that I used the whole 12 X 12 sheet on these two cards, with no waste.  We all love to fully use our designer series paper and that is why I love One Sheet Wonder cards so much.  We hate throwing away those little scraps and pieces we don’t know what to do with them, so make sure to join me every Thursday night at 8:00PM EST on my YouTube Channel “The Stamp Camp” to see what I have up my sleeve for the week.  No worries if you missed the class, you will find the video down below in this post.

Let’s Dig in to These Two Different Fun Fold Cards:

First up was this double gatefold version with a bit of a twist.  To create this card, you will need to cut your designer series paper 5 1/2″ X 12″ and score at 2″, 4″, 8″ and at 10″.  You will then turn your paper to the 5 1/2″ side and score at 4″.  Make a mark at the top and bottom at 4″.  You will then cut your paper from the 4″ score line down to the 4″ mark, do this on both sides and make sure to save your cut off pieces.  Fold your paper on the score lines and then attach the cut off sections to the inside bottom edge and repeat the scoring process.

Once I had all my scoring done, I then added the Stylish Shapes circle with the airplane assembled using the coordinating dies from the Adventures Sky bundle.  The sentiment is also from the bundle.  On the inside I wanted more of my sky paper to show up, so I added a piece of basic white 3 3/4″ x 4″, which still gives you ample room to stamp or write a message.

This next fun fold card is called a diamond gatefold card as it looks like a diamond shape on the front and that is why I used the square Stylish Shapes dies for this version.  The designer series paper on this card is cut 5 1/4″ X 12″ scored at 2″, 4″, 8″ and at 10″ and then marked at 2″ and cut from the 2″ score line to the mark at 2″.  You then flip these two pieces and attach them to the front fold giving that diamond shape with your designer series paper.

The last 1 1/4″ strip you have from your designer series paper is then used as a belly band and a decorative strip on the inside of your card.

You can see on the inside of this card that I used a full 3 3/4″ X 5″ piece of Basic White cardstock, but then I added my leftover piece of the designer series paper from the belly band.  I matted this onto a piece of Boho Blue cardstock and attached it to the top of the basic white piece.  I felt it looked a bit off, so I stamped a single smaller airplane on a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock using Basic Gray ink and die cut it out with the coordinating die.

You can see on the airplane. on the belly band that I added the Basic Gray pearls to the wheels and the propellor.

One thing I like to do when I am using a belly band is to add something to the front, so when the belly band is removed it doesn’t look so plan.

To achieve this, I used the second from the largest Stylish Shapes square die to die cut a piece of basic white cardstock.  I then stamped a second smoky slate airplane and some clouds, die cut them out and attached them to my square.  I stamped a second sentiment using boho blue ink and adhered my diamond to the right-hand side of the opening in the center, so when the belly band is on the card it is centered underneath the belly band.

To give you an idea of what these cards look like as Birthday cards, I created my prototypes with the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Adventures Sky stamp set.

I think these are the perfect layouts for this particular print in the pack and perfect for any occasion.
