Stampin’ Up! Sailing Home with Come Sail Away DSP

Today’s card is a simple card you can create in no time with the Sailing Home stamp set and the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper.  The contents of this card are all part of the Come Sail Away Suite.

Let the beautiful prints from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper pack do some of the work for you in creating your card.  Get your color combinations and backgrounds to your cards by using the printed papers.

It might be a little hard to see in the photo but I sponged the Seaside Spray ink onto the Whisper White card stock to create a pretty blue sky.  I think when you sponge the ink onto the card stock it gives the appearance of clouds or gives it the look of the summer sky.

Crumb Cake card stock under the lighthouse was torn and then sponged with Crumb Cake ink giving it a sandy appearance.

The coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies give you many different options to accessorize your cards.  I haven’t even begun to use them all but I like that they have dies in the set that do not have images that you can stamp; this just adds to the collection.

Contents of the Smooth Sailing Dies:

  • Lighthouse
  • Sailors knot
  • Anchor
  • Wheel (helm)
  • Small Sailboat
  • Large Sailboat
  • Dial arm
  • Seaweed
  • Sentiment Frame
  • Banner Frame
  • Straight Stitching piece

At least those are my interpretations of the dies.  hahaha . There are 12 dies in all.

The die that I used to accessorize this card was the Wheel or Helm; which is hard to see in the photo but it has quite a bit of detail in the die cut.  It has grooves to make it look like wood and knobs like you would see on a real wheel.  I’m not a sailor so I’m not sure if I have my jargon down or the sailing terms are correct but that’s my take on it.

The 3 birds are part of the Sailing Home stamp set and filled in the sky area a bit.

It is hard to see in the photo but I did color over the Lighthouse with the Aqua Painter and the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.  I used my Clear Wink of Stella so much it is all dried out.  So I took my Aqua Painter and the Champagne Mist Shimmer and Paint and just painted over my stamped image.  It actually give MORE of a shimmer and shine than the Wink of Stella die.  So if you are going for lots of shimmer and shine this is the preferred method.

I did pop the Lighthouse up on the card front using dimensionals.

    I love your card.
I had to drop out being a demonstrator last year when I found out
my husband had AML, he passed away May 29 so it’s been very
hard with no kids or family. I don’t think I’ll get back into a
demonstrator, but eventually I will make cards, right now it’s to hard yet, but this set is one I will pick up soon. I’ve thought about many friends during this time but I can’t seem to reach out too much just yet.
I’ll be watching for more cards with this set.

Hi Colleen, So sorry for your loss; I can’t imagine losing my spouse. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Card making is very therapeutic and at the start just sending out cards is really all the reaching out you need to do. It does help; at least I found that to be the case when my mom passed. There are definitely more Sailing Home cards coming; you will LOVE them! I love this set!
